Abstract
Purpose to map, through a scoping review, evidence on the relationship between cognition and sleep in individuals with multiple sclerosis.
Research strategy an active search of databases and gray literature was conducted to identify primary studies with freely available texts, without time and language limits.
Selection criteria data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and content analysis.
Results thirteen publications were eligible. Mainly cross-sectional studies were found, published in English, between 2016 and 2022, mostly concentrated in the northern hemisphere. The studies reviewed show that sleep disorders, whether identified objectively or subjectively, coexisted with cognitive decline in people with multiple sclerosis.
Conclusion It was observed that sleep disturbances coexisted with cognitive decline, among the most described cognitive domains were memory, attention, executive functions and processing speed.
